Hurricane Oxygen Economiser (pg 1 oxy)

This
is a nice wartime original oxygen economiser, undamaged
with its original oxygen hose and fitting. What makes this
extra special is that the mountings are original Hurricane parts
which are in good condition usually a generic piece and
impossible to attribute to a specific type the presence of
stamped Hurricane brackets means this piece was definitely
fitted to a Hurricane

RAAF Oxygen regulator (pg3 ins)
A wartime oxygen regulator used by the wartime RAAF. I have
never seen one of these before, the Canadian built aircraft
including the Hurricane did different oxygen regulators in
the USAAF style but I did not know the RAAF had variations.
I am not sure what this is fitted to but is similar in design to the British made MKVIII usually fitted to most
RAF fighters.
I know this site gets a
lot of visits from Australia so if anyone can offer more
information this will be gratefully received.

Flying Fortress oxygen regulator

The Flying Fortress is one of the most famous airplanes ever
built. The B 17 prototype first flew on July 28, 1935. Few
B-17s were in service on December 1942, but production
quickly accelerated. The aircraft served in every WW II
combat zone, but is best known for daylight strategic
bombing of German industrial targets. Production ended in
May 1945 and totalled 12,726.
a similar style, of oxygen
regulators was used in US Fighters and Canadian built
Hurricanes.

RCAF Hurricane
Oxygen regulator

This is a really nice and
unusual piece. This displays perfectly the variety of
instruments used on aircraft like Hurricanes and Spitfires
as discussed in the reference section and in the forum. As
we say there is no such thing as a standard instrument
panel.
Made by Bendix

This valve is shown left fitted
to a Mk I or II Royal Canadian Air Force Hurricane. Note the
single firing button and the Oval gun sight.

Hawker Hurricane oxygen cradle (page1 oxy)

310
Squadron Pilots
Pilot's oxygen bottle
cradle from Hawker Hurricane Z2505
- an important piece of
his kit that would have mounted behind the pilot's seat. In
relic condition (three bolts are holding it together for the
photo where the original rivets have failed) this item could
be improved with some TLC and make a fascinating exhibit,
especially if you have a bottle to put in it! Hawker
Aircraft stamps are present on the cradle.
Hurricane Z2505 was
flown by Squadron Leader Foit Emil when it caught fire and
crashed on a
training flight over Loch Oich lake on 31st of August 1941.

Air Bottle(pg1oxy)
Used
in many RAF Aircraft for operating the pneumatic systems for
guns and undercarriage ect. The Gun button of early
Spitfires and Hurricanes were simply air valves, when
depressed they allowed air stored in the bottle (supplied by
the compressor on the Merlin) to flow to the guns making
them fire. The flaps of the Spitfire were also lowered using
air.

MK VIII B Oxygen Regulator 1939 (pg 23 ins)
Dated 1939 this is a MK
VIII B the Mk B was designed for crew station use and so did
not have a contents gauge as this was monitored by the pilot
on his MK VIII A. This means this was used in early Bombers
in service in 1939 including the Wellington and Hampton.
