Hawker Nimrod
 |
Early pre war Boost gauge(pg14 ins)
This is
one of the rarest gauges on the site and the first one I
have seen in fifteen years of collecting. The very early
Spitfires used this gauge and that is why all the early
panels have a large hole where the boost gauge fits, these
were converted to the smaller 2 inch gauge by adding a
supplementary plate.
Seen in
situ in a Hawker Nimrod below fitted upper fight just under
the brass mag switch.

Chipmunk Fuel Gauge (pg14
ins)
An Early mechanical 9
Gallon fuel gauge. This gauge was used in the RAF
Chipmunk.
The classic de Havilland Chipmunk made its first flight on
the 22nd May 1946 in Toronto and it entered RAF service in
1950. De Havilland of Canada produced 158 Chipmunks and De
Havilland UK produced 740 aeroplanes. The Chipmunk replaced
the venerable De Havilland Tiger Moth as elementary trainer
for the Royal Air Force, also serving in the same role in
the Royal Navy and Army Air Corps.
